Wedding Photography

When it comes to that special day you want everything to be perfect. This includes the pictures that capture the moment forever. Who you choose for your wedding photography is very important. Where the pictures are taken is key as well.

First you must decide, “Who will be taking my wedding photographs?” Many opt for a professional photographer. Many of the pros have special lighting and other equipment they use just for wedding pictures. A professional will be able to determine the best area at your wedding location to take the photographs. He/she will know what shots will look the best and how many of each photograph to take to assure an excellent result.

If you prefer you can have a non-professional (such as a friend or family member) take the pictures. This option will no doubt save you money. There are several books and magazine that offer advice on obtaining the best wedding photos. There are also several websites that offer advise and “how to” information on the subject. Have the friend look at these sources so that they will be prepared when the big day arrives.

Wedding photographs can range from the traditional to the unique. What style of photography you choose is up to you. Let your wedding photographer (professional or otherwise) know what you want. If there is a specific photo you want be sure to inform him/her. Some traditional shots include a group photo of the wedding party, the bride and groom, the bride alone, the bride and her parents, and the exchanging of vows/rings.

Depending on the setting of the wedding you may choose to have indoor and outdoor photos as well. When taking these photos be sure to consider the lighting. Ensuring there is enough, but not too much, lighting is vital to obtain a quality photo. While a professional photographer may have portable lighting for this purpose, a non-pro will not. If you are taking outdoor photos be sure to consider the location of the sun. If the photographs are taken indoors you want to make sure your light source is in the proper location as well. Remember that, although candlelight is beautiful, it does not tend to provide proper lighting for photographs.

Some Wedding Photography Resources

There are several other ideas when it comes to wedding photography that are not traditional, but can provide very interesting results. One such suggestion is to place baskets with disposable cameras on the tables at the reception and have the guests take pictures. These photos can prove to be colorful addition to the wedding album. The bride and groom will enjoy seeing the guests having a good time at the reception, as they are unlikely to notice these activities at the time of the event.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life. You will remember this day forever. Choosing a great wedding photographer will ensure that you get the best photos possible, capturing this moment forever in time.
